As the result of a severe summer thunderstorm in 2021, a basement plant room within a school was flooded with water causing devastating and unrepairable damage to the boiler plant.Once the water had subsided, prior to the removal and replacement of the damaged plant, an asbestos survey was undertaken. As a result of the survey, asbestos materials were discovered as residue behind the paint on the walls, on the pipework beneath the modern insulation and within the boiler gaskets.

Lenval were tasked with dismantling the now ruined boilers and removing any asbestos gaskets. The modern insulation was removed from the pipework and media
blasting equipment was used to remove the paint and any asbestos residue from the pipework and off the walls. The works were undertaken under fully controlled conditions with operatives donned in full wet gear whilst wearing RAS respirators (Respiratory Airline Supply). To project was commenced and completed within the first three weeks of January allowing the urgent installation of new heating plant to commence.
